Chinese Bridge

During summer 2009 the old bridge across the river Derwent at the south end of Derwent Water was removed and replaced by a new structure. The new bridge is wider than the original and is accessible by wheelchair and pushchair uses. It complements the existing Round Derwenter Walk and means that less able visitors can now walk from Keswick to Lodore.

Location

Chinese Bridge is at the southern end of Derwentwater (see map on Projects page). It can be accessed by footpath from the Borrowdale road south of the Lodore Falls Hotel and from the footpath around the west side of the lake.
