Access for All

Projects in this theme improve access of the landscape giving everyone the opportunity to discover, enjoy and gain a better understanding of our beautiful landscape.

New Trails
We are improving trails around the catchment so everyone has the opportunity to experience and enjoy our beautiful scenery and spectacular views. The Latrigg Footpath, Round Derwentwater Footpath, Braithwaite Footpath and Lingholm Footpath have been designed to benefit to people with limited mobility and families with small children. They form part of the Lake District National Park Miles Without Stiles path network. The Thirlmere Cycleway is a new access to a round lake route suitable for families.

For something more adventurous try our Mountain to Lakeshore Walks - 3 interpretive trails across the Bassenthwaite Lake catchment available in leaflet form, or as podcast and GPS downloads

New Experiences
The Bird's Eye View Project focuses on the iconic ospreys of Whinlatter Forest, where we operate a bus service between Keswick and the osprey viewing areas at Whinlatter and Dodd Wood. Our Upstream Project is an exchange programme giving young people the chance to share their experiences of landscape and rural life in Bassenthwaite with similar places in Europe.
