This wetland site at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake is a great place to see wetland flora and fauna. This seven hectare site also helps protect the water quality of Bassenthwaite Lake and reduce the impact of flooding. Water flows slowly through the reserve so sediments are deposited here rather than in Bassenthwaite Lake and flood water is slowed down on its journey through the catchment. There are two shelters on the site constructed from traditional materials. Parking is available nearby and the Osprey Bus makes stops at the reserve. There are no toilets on site. The Pheasant Inn is located 200m from the site which serves food and refreshments. For more information on the site visit the Dubwath Silver Meadows website.
