Where is the Bassenthwaite catchment?
Bassenthwaite Lake is the basin into which all the water from the surrounding fells, lakes and rivers feed into. This area is called the Bassenthwaite catchment and it constitutes a significant 23% of the Lake District. The water in the lake can be seen as a true indicator of how we are caring for the surrounding landscape; the fields, fells and woodlands.

The map highlights the catchment area which not only covers Bassenthwaite Lake, but also the ‘lakes’ of Derwentwater and Thirlmere.
